Optical fibre sensor installation to survive Pile Driving of Monopile Foundations
In the framework of the EU-project Link2Innovate, Com&Sens will mount optical fibre sensors on one of the monopile foundation of a Dutch offshore windturbine partner company. The goal is to have a robust optical fibre sensor packaging that is easily, fast and robustly installed on a monopile foundations by which these offshore structures can extensively be monitored over their lifetime.
Actions of Com&Sens during the project (1 nov 2017 and 31 okt 2018):
-       Search for candidate materials / alternatives to cover the fibre sensor
-       Preliminary experiments to test the alternatives
-       Onshore mounting of sensors on the monopile foundation
-       Inspection of sensor lines after driving in and recuperation from the seabid
The project is funded by the Link2Innovate framework of the European Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland programme (www.grensregio.eu). Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland stimulates cross-border projects for smart, green and inclusive growth, supported by the European Fund for Regional Development(EFRD).
